Cough Syrup

 

Bring to a boil:

1 1/3 cups honey (1lb)

3 cups purified water (must not have chlorine)

Then remove scum off top of mixture.  

 Add herb mixture 

 Horehound……………1 ounce

Wild Cherry Bark……1 ounce

Anise seed……………….1 ounce

Elecampane Root…….1/2 ounce

Lobelia Herb………….1/4 ounce

Lower heat.  Simmer for 15 minutes and strain out herbs.  This should be about one pint to this add :

1 ½ cups of Red Raspberry Vinegar

This cough syrup can be used for all ages and is good for asthma, bronchitis, colds, etc.  Keeps well, not necessary to refrigerate but helps with the flavor.

 

Dosages: One tablespoon every one to three hours for adults or as needed.

                Under twelve a teaspoon at a time is best.

                Infants 10-20 drops from a dropper as needed.

This syrup can cause vomiting of phlegm this is normal it will help clear up the congestion.  If vomiting occurs repeat dose after 2 - 3 minutes.

If you would not like the vomiting to occur replace the Lobelia with Slippery Elm Bark.
